THE IMPACT OF PROTES NIGERIA: A STUDY OF BASSEY, Antigha

The study was designed to re nature of Calvinist’s Protestant Christians which gave birth to the emergence of capitalism and industrial development of Europe, presents the same effect in Calabar where Protestant religion flourished for over 150 years”. Purposive sampling method was utilized to select Protestant Christians from five Protestant Churches in Calabar. A sample of 500 subjects was accidentally selected. The main argument of the study was indicated in the guiding hypothesis, which states that “industrial development Protestant Christians”. The test of null hypothesis revealed the finding that “industrial development is occasioned by the attitude and hard work of Protestant Christians”. The study concluded that religio development in Nigeria as experienced in Europe. The study recommended that government should create an enabling environment for industrial development in terms of increased energy supply and credit facilities as well as t National Policy on Religion to aid the spread of favorable religious practices which is likely to impact positively on the society, like Protestant faith and practice.
